QotD: Why I Blog

Comments

You hush. All writers are frustrated.

Bah, I can't get my characters to do anything! They just stand there, staring at me then blow raspberries and do whatever it is THEY want to do! It's so frustrating.

I might have to change the characters and stick them in different stories.

My characters do whatever they wanna do. I let them.

::sigh:: I need to stop being a control freak.

Wait, you'll have an opinion on this:

What do you think when someone says they didn't want to cc you on an email because it was too personal but then spills the whole story in person? Kind of weird, right?

I do?

Uhm... they respect your opinion more? I dunno, I never get personal e-mails from anyone, let alone personal e-mails that went to more than one person.
[this is good]
Perfect answer.
I say this bec it's nearly what I wrote.
Except it's written better.

My characters don't even show up. They call in sick, they go out on strike, their Grandmothers die. I've heard all their excsues. At least yours stand around an ignore you.
Well, maybe I wouldn't like that either.

I wonder what we have to do to get them fired up.
Try to fire them?

Really? Huh. I would email you more often but since you're on Vox, I don't really have to
I didn't mean I want you to e-mail me more, I just mean I never get e-mails from people that don't have game files or funny pictures attached to them.

So sweet and completley untrue that it's written better!

At least yours stand around an ignore you.
Well, maybe I wouldn't like that either.

And they ARGUE with me! Can you believe it? I had this one story where I was trying to get this character to do something. Instead, she looks at me and I can just FEEL her rolling her eyes at me!

Disrespectful!

Then she starts listing the reasons why she would NEVER do what I'm trying to get her to do.

God.

... maybe this is actually a sign that I need psychiatric help?

My characters will take your characters out for coffee and try to explain co-operation to them.

Also, what does it say about me if most of my CHARACTERS are insane? Mental illness is a constant and pervasive theme in all of my stories.
lol -- maybe you need to do a META-book -- where you write about the writing the book instead of writing the book. You know? You'd be brilliant! Perfect example:

Do you want email?
Use the PM thing here-- it's a good deal.
I'll write to you.
*evil grin*
Heh, you'd just get weird emails from, asking who various people are!
HA! "Explain cooperation"?
Probably the ONLY way I could get a book written!
[this is good]

Yes, I agree, everyone needs to know your opinion on everything.

If I may be honest, here, I don't think you are a dud in person. I personally find your blogging MUCH funnier because I know how you sound and would say it if I were hearing it in person. Your indignant tones are so much funnier as audio vs just text. I think all these people who only know you online are missing out on a whole other level of your humour because they don't hear the audio portion.....nevermind those fabulous eye rolls of yours. :p

ONLY way I could get a book written! no -you can do it. i know you can!!

::mwah:: Thank you!
You're so sweet! Thank you!
